About HKCC

What is the HKCC?

The Hollywood Knolls Community Club is a not-for-profit corporation, which began in 1939 as a garden club and social organization for residents of the Hollywood Knolls. It is the oldest hillside residents' association in Los Angeles.

Over the years, the Club has grown to include Lakeridge Estates (1959) and the Hollywood Manor (see map below). The HKCC now represents approximately 750 households.

What does the HKCC do?

The Club's mission has broadened considerably over the years. Our concerns now include traffic, noise, graffiti, development and other issues, which threaten the security, value and comfort of our homes and the overall quality of life in our neighborhood.

bullet

Advocacy
Over the years, the Club has worked hard to insure that the lands adjacent to our neighborhoods are developed and used in ways that minimize their impact on us. This means we are continually involved in discussions and negotiations with developers, corporate neighbors and government neighbors.

The Club works with the elected Council member and council staff, along with other departments of city, county and state government to help us in these negotiations.

For more information, please see our Local Issues page.

bullet

Security
To help protect our area from the unfortunate increase in crime and vandalism infecting the city, the Club formed its own security patrol. The Club has contracted with Atlas Security to provide the most extensive coverage available in our neighborhood at a very reasonable cost.

For more information, please see our Security page. Up arrow to top of page

Communication
Communication is an important Club function.
bullet

The HKCC News is produced by a neighborhood volunteer and distributed to the entire community periodically throughout the year.
Occasionally, a special urgent bulletin is sent out to keep the community informed about urgent issues, special meetings, etc... Most of our modest budget each year goes to cover the costs of printing and mailing.

The Hollywood Knolls Website is published and updated by a neighborhood volunteer.

bullet

Informational Meetings on key issues are sponsored by the Club as the need arises.

bullet

Social
The Club is more than just business.
bullet

Social Events
We hold a variety of social events, including our traditional New Neighbor Brunch and Holiday Caroling among other get-togethers.

bullet

Our Neighborhood is Kid Friendly
Our parents' committee supports our local Elementary School, Valley View, organizes activities and has established a Parents/Kids Network.
For more information, please see our For Kids page.

How is the HKCC Governed?

The Club's by-laws provide for governance by a 17-member Board of Directors that is elected by dues-paying members in good-standing at the Annual Membership Meeting, which is held in the Fall.

HKCC officers and committee chairs are elected by the Board, which meets at 7:30 p.m. on the second Wednesday of each month, usually at Ramsey-Shilling Realty at Barham and Lake Hollywood Drive. All members are invited and welcome.

HKCC Committees include:

HKCC Membership

If you are new to the neighborhood ... Welcome!
As you can see in this site, HKCC membership delivers a lot of value for a $35 investment in annual dues per household. This is incredibly cheap when you think of the concerned people working on your behalf.

Your dues are very important. Since postage and printing are major expense items, our ability to communicate is directly related to the number of people who support the work of the Club by paying their dues. So, please help the HKCC help you.

Annual dues are $35 per household. Additional donations are greatly appreciated. All donations are tax deductible to the extent provided by law. Please make checks payable to HKCC and mail today to:

Tree Lockie, HKCC Membership Chair
3360 Barham Boulevard
Hollywood, CA 90068

Please also indicate whether you would like information about the Hollywood Knolls Security Patrol.
