The Four Corners Proposal

The combined Beautification & Barham Boulevard
Committee (B & B) is currently focusing on improving the appearance
of the Barham Boulevard gateways to our neighborhood.
B & B in in the process of applying for a Community
Beautification Grant from the City of Los Angeles. Funds from the
grant will be used to pay for a landscaping project along Barham
Boulevard centered on the "Four Corners" area where Lake
Hollywood Drive and DeWitt Drive intersect with Barham.
A projection of the proposed improvements on the
“Four Corners” is included below in a series of “BEFORE” and
“AFTER” images achieved through the magic of photo shop (thanks
to Graham Marriott.) The actual end results are subject to some
revision from the property owner, the Committee or the City.
As customers, good friends and neighbors, members of the
Beautification-Barham Blvd. Committee believe we can beautify these
intersections by the simple placement of appropriate trees and shrubs
that will enhance the appearance of the properties and result in better
business for them, better relations with the community. The
win-win result will be good business for them, plus the creation of
attractive gateways to both the Hollywood Knolls and the Hollywood Manor
communities.

project,

Thanks to the CB Grant, the improvements would come
at no cost to the HKCC and no cost to the businesses. All that
is needed is their cooperation and a little work on our part.
B & B has enlisted the expertise of Tree People, a
Los Angeles nonprofit that works with urban communities to plant trees
and improve the quality of the environment. If we receive the grant
money, we will use a corps of volunteers from the neighborhood to do the
planting next spring.
